Carpet and Rug Care Basics

Clean spills and spots immediately, before they become permanent stains. Remove dirt and soil from high traffic areas by vacuuming your carpet once or twice per week, or more often depending on the level of usage. Vacuuming often removes dirt and grit, which is highly abrasive to carpet and rug fibers and the main cause of wear and tear. When vacuuming rugs with fringe, be sure to turn off the beater bar or better yet, use a hose and brush attachment. Have your carpets and rugs professionally cleaned at least annually or more often for heavily trafficked areas. Rotate rugs annually to ensure even wear.

Upholstery and Drapery Care Basics

Clean spills and spots immediately, before they become permanent stains. Remove dirt, dust, and grit by vacuuming the surface area, cracks, and crevices once or twice per week, or more often depending on the level of usage. Have your upholstered furniture and draperies professionally cleaned at least annually.

Spill and Spot Removal

Soak up excess liquid with an absorbent material. Use plain tap water and white terry cloth to remove the spot. If this is not effective, then use a manufacturer recommended spot cleaner. Use white terry cloth to sparingly apply the cleaner, gently working it into the spot. The idea is to move the spot from surface fibers to the cloth. If you are unable to remove the spot, have the spot removed professionally and immediately, so that it doesn’t become a stain.
